Weaving Workshop

The workshop offers students enrolled onto the weaving courses a variety of looms that are used to gain expertise in different types of weaving techniques and processes:

Handlooms: The workshops are equipped with looms that have 8 heddles for learning the basic of weaving and looms with 16 and 24 heddles for complex weaving projects.

Computerized handlooms: Looms based on advanced technology, whereby the weaving plans are executed on computer software and sent directly to a particular loom to be woven. These machines are used for special projects and cutting-edge developments in weaving, modeling and material.

Industrial looms: Allow high speed weaving of full width fabrics and are designed to develop fabrics for fashion, interior design and products.

Pointcarre professional weaving software: Used for designing fabrics that are made on computerized handlooms and industrial looms and for designing Jacquard fabric. The software allows research and development of complex weave structures.

The weaving workshops are located in the Department of Textile and Design, on the ground floor of the Pernick Building, rooms 13/22/24.
