Nonwovens Workshop
The nonwovens workshop, located in the Department of Textile Design, allows the creation of fabrics out of various fibers using the dry-laid method, without using the wet felting process. In this manner, numerous other materials can be incorporated into the textile surface.
The workshop is equipped with a line of laboratory machines, which allow arranging the fibers, piling them in layers and binding them with a needle board or using fusible fibers to produce material in a relatively short amount of time.
Student's using the workshop create colorful surfaces - sometimes using nothing but fibers, and occasionally incorporating fabrics, threads and other soft materials. These reinforce the surface and allow it to be used for a wide range of applications.
