Prof. Hanna Dodiuk has been appointed a member of the Council for Higher Education
Prof. Hanna Dodiuk, Head of the Department of Polymers and Plastics Engineering, has been appointed to serve as a member of the Council for Higher Education. The appointment was awarded at a festive, official ceremony attended by President Ruvi Rivlin, and Minister of Education and Chairman of the Council for Higher Education MK Naftali Bennett.
"As the daughter of Holocaust survivors from Schindler’s List, I adopted my mother’s belief that the only thing you can depend on is education," said Prof. Dodiuk following her appointment to the Council: "I consider the appointment an honor and a privilege, and intend to work within its framework to realize the agenda that guides me: to lead applied research vis-à-vis industry in Israel, and combine scientific work and its optimal realization in the short term."
Prof. Dodiuk specializes in adhesion and adhesive technologies, polymers, and nanotechnology applications and developments in industry, and is one of the leading researchers in these fields. Over the years she has published more than 140 articles in the professional literature, she is responsible for 27 patents, and has delivered some 160 lectures at international conferences.
She has edited two professional books on plastics and polymers, and is an active member of the editorial boards of leading professional journals, and of numerous societies and associations engaged in her fields of expertise. Between 1998 and 2000 she served as President of the Israel Polymer and Plastics Society, and was recently awarded honorary membership for her longstanding contribution to the organization.
After a career replete with achievements in industry and research, Prof. Dodiuk decided to return to academe, and was one of the founders of the Department of Polymers and Plastics Engineering at Shenkar. Under her leadership the department developed and became established, and produced an extraordinary Masters Degree program that offers an international doctoral studies track.
