Prof. Ehud Menipaz has been elected President of Global Entrepreneurship Monitor

Leading international research: Head of the School of Industrial Engineering and Management, Prof. Ehud Menipaz, has been elected to serve as President of Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM), a consortium of countries engaged in researching entrepreneurship and innovation. The unique project was launched in 1999, and currently includes participants from hundreds of academic institutions and research institutes from 73 countries worldwide.

At the international organization’s annual meeting, which was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Prof. Menipaz was elected to lead the complex research program whose aim is to provide objective scientific assessments and indices on the “ecosystem” of entrepreneurship and innovation around the world. To date, data on more than 100 countries, representing about 90% of the gross world product and the majority of the world’s population, has been analyzed within the framework of the multinational study by means of some 200 annual interviews, which are overseen by more than 500 leading scientists.

Global Entrepreneurship Monitor holds the world’s largest updated information bank on entrepreneurship and innovation, and among other things its uniqueness stems from the fact that it focuses on studying the entrepreneurial behavior of the individual entrepreneur rather than the business as an organization. In its 2016 international study GEM researched trends of gendered and sectorial entrepreneurship, immigrant entrepreneurship, and international technological innovation.
