Associate professor Anna Dotan
Head of the Polymer Materials Engineering Department adotan@shenkar.ac.il 03-6130111
Specializes in composite materials with nanocomposite matrices, surface treatment of polymers and biodegradable polymers, and conducts research at the Israel Plastics and Rubber Center at Shenkar. She has been a senior member of faculty and lecturer in the Department of Plastics Engineering for the past 15 years.
Assoc. Prof. Dotan graduated from the Department of Textile Chemistry at Shenkar and from the Instituto Tecnologico de Aeronautica (ITA) in Brazil, where she completed her Master's and doctoral degrees in Engineering. After earning her doctorate, she held served as a Professor at the Institute in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Upon her return to Israel she joined the Department of Plastics Engineering at Shenkar. Between 2012 and 2013 she served as President of the Israel Polymer and Plastics Society, which brings together the leading researchers in the field.
In 2013 Assoc. Prof. Dotan was awarded the Yaakov Rozen Special Excellence Award for her innovative research, which enabled utilization of agricultural waste for the production of ecological consumer products in the plastics industry. In 2012 she won the Irit Rappaport Award for Innovation and Creativity in Teaching.
As part of her academic role at Shenkar, Assoc. Prof. Dotan teaches courses on materials, polymer characterization, materials for industrial design, thermoplastic and thermoset materials, composite materials and the chemistry of polymers.
