Dr. Tal Goldrath appointed as new Department Head of Chemical Engineering at Shenkar

Shenkar’s Academic Council has approved the recommendation of the Search Committee to nominate Dr. Tal Goldrath as the head of the Chemical Engineering Department at Shenkar.

Dr. Goldrath holds a BSc degree in Chemical Engineering from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, with honors. She holds an MSc in Water, Soil and Environment from the Technion's Faculty of Agricultural Engineering on "Nitrogen transformations in effluent irrigated soil". She also holds a PhD degree from the Department of Natural Resources and Environment management at the School of Management at the University of Haifa, in the field of energy efficiency policy. In her dissertation, Dr. Goldrath focused on defining and analyzing  a combined sustainability index for energy efficiency measures in the Israeli electricity market.

Dr. Goldrath has many years of experience in complex projects in the fields of national and municipal environmental policy, program management focusing on efficiency and saving of natural resources at the local level and for eight years, managed the Sustainability hub at the Technion, Israel's thchnological istitute. Likewise. Dr. Goldrath has worked on producing and executing surveys in various sectors including- oversight of the energy and electricity at the local level, surveys on greenhouse gas emissions according to international protocols as well as surveys on comprehensive emissions and their environmental consequences at various institutions.

Dr. Goldrath’s statement:

I am proud and excited to take on the role of department head, especially during these very challenging times for planet earth. During the last semester, the higher education sector in general, and our faculty and students in particular were faced with many challenges that we previously have not faced. I am confident that management, faculty and department employees will continue to provide maximum effort to transform the Faculty of Chemical Engineering at Shenkar to one that is unique and will produce the next generation chemical engineers. I would like to thank Dr. Yoav Rockman for his many years of invaluable service. The fruits of his labor can be seen through every encounter with the graduates of our department.

Professor Sheizaf Rafaeli, President of Shenkar’s statement:

I would like to wish Dr. Tal Goldrath much success in her role as Head of the Chemical Engineering Department. Tal, who is a senior lecturer at Shenkar, has led environmental projects for many years at the international level and I am certain that she will lead the department to many impressive achievements. At this juncture, I would like to thank Dr. Yoav Rockman, the outgoing department head, for his dedicated management of the department and wish him much luck in all his future professional endeavors.
