We extend our warmest congratulation to our students, Alona Rozner and Stav Avraham, from the Department of Software Engineering in Shenkar. The Commercial and Industrial Club awarded them the 2022 Excellence Scholarship for their “Smart Recycling” project, supervised by the head of the Department of Software Engineering, Dr. Yonit Rusho.

The project is a system characterization designed to encourage recycling in Israel and includes the following functions: search for the nearest recycling bin, take a photo of the product to learn where to dispose of it (plastic recycling, paper recycling or cardboard disposal), points for every item disposed of, creating a character, games, recycling competitions and the option to report a damaged bin.

The Commercial and Industrial Club is Israel’s business club. Every year, it awards the sustainability grant to a different academic institution involved with sustainability projects corresponding to one of the seventeen UN sustainable development goals.
