This is a collaboration between Shenkar’s Department of Fashion Design and KitePride, which takes the material from old kitesurfing kites and uses it as the raw material for creating trendy bags.

KitePride is a social enterprise founded by a Swiss couple, Tabea and Matti Oppliger. The brand’s products are created with sustainability in mind—relying on “Upcycling” and recycling—as well as social values of support and working with the community in Israel.

Taking after the tailwind that blows into the kite and helps it picks up speed, KitePride borrows the term “tailwind” to encourage, support, promote and motivate women and men who are trapped in the prostitution industry in Israel in returning to integrate in general society by offering them employment within the company. A victory for the human spirit.
