Department of Fashion Design Graduate Tomer Stolbov Wins Second Place in the International Talent Support Competition
Tomer Stolbov, a graduate of the Department of Fashion Design in 2020, made it to the finals of the ITS (International Talent Support) fashion competition with his final project, and won second place with his sneaker project that he designed especially for Lotto Sport, with a prize of 2,000 Euros.
Last year, department graduate Noa Baruch won first place with a prize from Diesel and got to work alongside fashion designer Glenn Martens in a special project that was also displayed at this year’s competition finals.
Tomer Stolbov: “The inspiration for my final project Built-to-Wear came from the colorful and spectacular buildings of Bolivian architect Freddy Mamani. Their unique geometry and shape and the conceptual similarities between these buildings and the inner structure of tailored garments guided me in designing the collection, which offers a wearable interpretation of Mamani’s buildings.
For the competition’s assignment, in continuation of my final project, I aimed to maintain the same aesthetic line as the final collection, combined with inspiration from the tennis legacy and that of Lotto Sport. In the capsule collection I focused on the matrix design, which is repeated in the strings of the tennis rackets and the nets on the courts, and in the colors that are most identified with tennis – white, green, yellow, terra cotta and red. I also used the Lotto Sport logo to create a net-like pattern”.
