Itamar Daube – Emeritus Head of Shenkar’s Illustration and Animation Program, Wins the Patir Award for a Political Portrait at the Animix Festival
Warm congratulations to Itamar Daube – emeritus head of Shenkar’s illustration and animation program, who has won the Patir Award for a political portrait at the Animix Festival!
Daube won the award for his illustration of Vladimir Putin this year for Yedioth Ahronoth.
The award, named after the late Dan Patir, is awarded by the Patir family and Animix Festival in three categories as of this year: political caricature, political comics and political portrait.
Itamar is an illustrator, animator, VP of Creative at BabyFirst, the first American media channel for toddlers, and he headed the illustration program at the Department of Visual Communication.
Daube is an honors graduate of the Department of Visual Communication at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design and his work is often published in print, screen, and online media.
He is a regular illustrator for the Saturday supplement of Yedioth Ahronoth, as well as in the business newspaper Globes and the men’s lifestyle magazine Blazer. He has illustrated posters for the plays My Fair Lady and The Dinner Game for Habima Theater, designed the campaign for the Yoplait Shtuzim brand, designed musical packaging for Channel 24, worked with Mifal HaPais, Coca Cola, Honigman, and the children’s edition of Masa Acher magazine.
In 2013 Daube was awarded the Mina Lorber Creative Teaching Award for leading the animation program at the Department of Visual Communication and for his contributions to unique projects.
Over the years, his works have been displayed in numerous exhibits and illustration and animation festivals, including the Portfolio Live event at Tel Aviv City Hall (2013), the Ordinary exhibit at Shenkar and Designers Plus 10 at the Design Museum Holon (2012) and at the MIPJUNIOR expo, Pre-MIPCOM International Kids Screenings & Co-Production Market in Cannes, where he presented pilots for children’s animation series as part of the BabyFirst channel.
Daube’s animation video, For, was shortlisted at Korea’s 2013 Puchon International Student Animation Festival (PISAF) and screened at Ukraine’s KROK International Animated Film Festival.
