The Fashion Design Department was rated among the top-most leading and influential schools in the fashion world
Unprecedented International Achievement: The Fashion Design Department at Shenkar was ranked 5th by the prestigious international Business of Fashion magazine, in the category of schools that most influenced the fashion world, and ranked 11th among all the fashion design institutions.
This is an extraordinary international achievement for Israeli academia, and it is the first time in which a department in any field received such a high ranking.
Dozens of leading institutions all over the world were examined for professional ranking according to a variety of criteria, including influence, students' learning experience, and employment value.

The Fashion Design Department received a score of 74% in overall calculation, which took into account the various factors and the expert opinions of seniors in the industry and Academia.
“Situated within the metropolitan area of Tel Aviv, Shenkar blends both the technical and conceptual in its curriculum". The magazine noted that “83 percent reporting in BoF’s survey that they secured jobs in the industry within six months.”
Shenkar’s president, Professor Yuli Tamir, congratulated the choice of the Fashion Design Department and said that “this is an unprecedented international achievement, and even more so when it is in the field of design. I am proud of Leah Peretz, the head of the department, the dedicated and professional faculty, and every single one of our students and alumni. Each of them has earned a place of honor in this prestigious award.”

The Business of Fashion is one of the most prominent and important websites in world and it deals with technological and financial aspects of the fashion industry.
This is the first time the magazine has conducted a ranking, and its objective in doing so was to establish an objective database with which to compare academic institutions in different countries. At the top of the ranking are renowned and experienced entities, some of whom provide both first and secondary degrees. These include: the British Central Saint Martins College, the Japanese Bunka Fashion College and the British Kingston University.
Shenkar’s Fashion Design Department, headed by Leah Peretz, is one of the most esteemed in the world. It prides itself on a strong international placement program with leading international fashion designers.
The department is renowned for its participation in prestigious exhibitions and is the recipient of many awards. Recently, the department was ranked in the 20th place on the list of “the 50 leading schools in the fashion world” which was put together by the international umbrella organization for design schools (FS).
