Students from the Department of Fashion Design presented a series of avant-garde designs at Gindi Tel Aviv Fashion Week

Black, white, and everything in between: Students from the Department of Fashion Design presented a series of extraordinary, boundary-breaking garments in an impressive and inspiring avant-garde fashion show at Gindi Tel Aviv Fashion Week. In an ongoing collaboration with American sports brand New Balance, the second- and third-year students created original interpretations of familiar items, from street fashion to bridal and evening gowns.

Shenkar’s fashion show, which gained high praise, was devoted to the idea and design space between black and white, engaging with color bleeding from them towards strong, dramatic colors, out of a desire to examine and challenge the tension between extremes, to blur boundaries, and move freely between genders, conventions, and categories.

Gindi Fashion Week, produced by Motty Reif and held for the fourth time, has already established its standing as one of the most important fashion events in Israel.

The Department of Fashion Design participated in last year’s event with a collection of avant-garde designs, also in collaboration with New Balance, which gained high praise. Featured on the runway were the students’ outstanding projects that explored the relationship between body, garment, and footwear in an original, personal, and extraordinary language.
