Merav Shemi Perez

Experimental designer and interdisciplinary educator with special interest in the crossing points between performance art and contemporary design practices.

Leader of the new M.Des course in Design Engineering (part of the Interdisciplinary Program in Design), and a Senior lecturer in the Industrial Design department at Shenkar College of Engineering and Design. Former visiting lecturer in the Product Design Program at NABA Nuova accademia di belle arti, Milano.

Academic manager of GoGlobal Peace of Design 2014, an international collaboration between the IDE Program from the Royal College of Arts and the Imperial College (London, UK), and Shenkar College; co-founder of the annual JamWeek design and engineering workshops at Shenkar. For her contribution to the promotion of interdisciplinary initiatives, Shenkar’s Board of Governors awarded her the Pernick Prize for an outstanding lecturer in 2014.

Merav has vast professional experience in the field of visual communication and interaction design, working with industrial designers on multidisciplinary projects for leading companies in the high-tech and information industries, among them – IDEO, SanDisk, M-Systems, Imperva, 3Com, TinyLove, and many more.


Studied her B.Des in the Visual Communication Department at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem. Graduated from the Interdisciplinary Program in the Arts, Tel Aviv University Faculty of the Arts (summa cum laude). Her thesis focused on the relations between performance art and contemporary interaction design.
