New Immigrants and Foreign Students Support
HILA Services, designed to help students cope with language difficulties, are available to students who are not native Hebrew speakers (new immigrants, foreign students and students from the Ethiopian, Caucasian and Bukharan communities), who fulfill the conditions of eligibility.
Applying for adjustments
- To evaluate your eligibility for a new/veteran immigrant status, make an appointment at the Center and bring your Immigrant Certificate, ID card or passport, and a passport picture to the meeting. Applications for adjustments may be submitted up to one month prior to examinations in every semester. In exceptional cases, applications may be submitted after said date with no obligation to implement the adjustments immediately.
Conditions of Eligibility:
- Students with new immigrant status:
- Students who immigrated to Israel after the age of 15, and who have been in Israel for up to 6 years (not including military/national service).
- Students receiving support from the Students’ Administration
- Students with veteran immigrant status:
- Students who immigrated to Israel after the age of 12 and before the age of 15, and 6-10 years have elapsed since their immigration date (not including military/national service).
Exajm adjustments for new immigrants:
- A 25% extra time
- Disregarding spelling mistakes in Hebrew
- Use of a Hebrew - native tongue dictionary
- In the Design Faculty and the Multidisciplinary Art School - reading out of the test questionnaire in Hebrew for Art History courses 1-4 only.
Exam adjustments for veteran immigrants:
- 25% extra time
