The New Campus with TAU

The "New Campus" is a vision that aims to unite entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation in the academic environment in Israel. The launching of the New Campus program was announced during the Higher Education Conference (2019), which took place on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Council’s establishment – and is the first time the state has budgeted for the establishment of innovation centers in Israeli institutions.

In collaboration with Tel Aviv University, Shenkar is one of many that will take part in this nationwide initiative, and was awarded a grant of 15 million NIS. Utilizing the campus spaces, the amalgamation will create an eco-system that removes barriers between disciplines and connects academia and industry.

The head of the Planning and Budgeting Committee, Professor Yaffa Zilbershatz commented, “it is the duty of Israeli academia to merge a long tradition of academic excellence with a sober look at the horizon and the changes in the digital world”. The institutions responded eagerly, with 13 proposals submitted by 19 institutions of higher education, many of which received generous grants. Ultimately, the New Campus goal seeks to initiate future opportunities for graduate employment.
