Curriculum: The Department of Fashion Design
The fashion design studies begin in the first year with an introduction to the language of fashion and continue in the second, third and fourth years with a variety of elective courses in the following fields: kids clothing, lingerie, swimwear, menswear, leisure clothing, knits, jeans, bags, shoes, evening wear, bridal clothing and tailored clothes.
In addition to participation in fashion design courses and theoretical and professional studies, students are offered a wide variety of elective courses in fields such as: photography, sculpting, product design, styling, embroidery, crochet, surface handling, ceramic design, visual communications for fashion designers, and more.
Third Year: During the summer vacation, the students undergo an internship in the fashion industry in Israel or abroad. As fashion is global, the Department of Fashion Design at Shenkar maintains strong international ties, extending invitations to guest lecturers from Israel and worldwide, holding master classes and internships at various international companies and inviting guest critics for final projects.
Every year, the department is invited to participate in prestigious international competitions for young designers.
Fourth Year: Devoted entirely to the final project, under the guidance and critique of the department’s faculty and designers from abroad.
