Tal Narkiss, a Department of Textile Design graduate, won first place in the Dorothy Waxman Talking Textiles competition
We are very excited to announce that a graduate of the Department of Textile Design, Tal Narkiss, won the Dorothy Waxman Textile Design Prize as part of New York Textile Month.
While many graduates of textile design departments submit their final projects to the competition, few reach the final stage. This year, two graduates from the Shenkar Department of Textile Design reached the final – Tal Narkiss with her project, “Tools”, and Tomer Laham with her “White Linen Weave” project. The finalists presented their projects before a panel of judges in an online conference that took place in the middle of September as part of the events surrounding New York Textile Month (NYTM), led by trend forecaster Li Edelkoort.
In his declaration of the winning project, Philip Fimmano, trend forecaster and one of the founders of Talking Textiles, noted that this is the first time Shenkar has placed first in the competition. Tal was very excited by her win and thanked Gali Cnaani and Roni Yeheskel for their support throughout the project.
