Hila Cohen Schneiderman wins the 2021 Minister of Culture Curator Award

Hila Cohen Schneiderman, a curator and lecturer at the School of Multidisciplinary Art and the master’s degree in design program, has won the 2021 Minister of Culture's Curators Award. The prize is 40,000 NIS.

The Ministry of Culture and Sport grants the Minister of Culture's Curators Award in recognition and appreciation of their professional work in the preservation and research for the collections they curate, and to encourage additional professional exhibitions in Israel. The award’s committee of judges unanimously selected Ms. Hila Cohen Schneiderman as the 2021 winner.

Explaining their reasons for selecting Hila, the judges said: “Hila Cohen Schneiderman, chief curator of MoBY (Museums of Bat Yam) is the recipient of the 2021 Minister of Culture and Sport's Curators Award. The committee selected Cohen Schneiderman as the winner thanks to her groundbreaking and varied curation work.

In the Petach Tikva Museum of Art, she gave contemporary artists an opportunity to respond to the works of artists from the museum’s collection, developing curation processes that connect the past and the present.

This prompted a renewed discussion about displaying a collection and about which works are chosen for display. In her role as chief curator of MoBY, she worked to reopen the Sholem Asch House, promotes research on Ryback’s works and is engaged in trying to open Ryback House. She treats the museum as a lab; as a place to share, to wonder and to think; which is why every exhibition she administers at the museum receives her own brand of care and curation.”
