Watch: The show from the Department of Fashion Design at Tel Aviv’s Kornit Fashion Week
Exactly a year ago, the coronavirus outbreak forced the last-minute cancellation of the Department of Fashion Design’s show at Fashion Week. A year later, we revived the slogan from last year’s planned show, “Dreams Are My Reality.” The chance to dream, to reach the limit, to create outfits that answer to no commercial imperatives, was all the greater over the past year when the mere thought of dressing up and leaving home for an event seemed like a daydream.
Watch the entire show:
The fashion show, organized by Maya Arazi, a senior lecturer at the department, displayed the works of second-, third-, and fourth-year students from a variety of courses taught at Shenkar and emphasized traditional qualities juxtaposed with innovative techniques and designs. The show was divided into 3 themes:
STREETWEAR — Colorful casual clothing and denim outfits.
BLACK AND WHITE — Tailored clothing with avantgarde silhouettes in shades of monochrome.
DANCE — A group of dancers with dynamic clothing in natural and pastel shades.
The show gave expression to the creative pulse that continues to beat within the students. They are not afraid to dream, they refuse to accept reality as it is, and they are thinking of the day after—with creativity, daring, originality, and unconventionality. Above all, they have not only the courage to dream but the ambition to turn their dream into reality, even under the shadow of uncertainty.
