Polymer Materials Engineering Lecturer and Shenkar Alumnus Dan Lewitus Is Awarded the Title of Associate Professor
The Shenkar community congratulates Dan Lewitus, a senior lecturer at The Department of Polymer Materials Engineering, for becoming an associate professor!
Professor Lewitus is a biomedical polymer researcher, a plastics consultant, and a senior lecturer and faculty member at Shenkar’s Department of Polymer Materials Engineering.
Dr. Lewitus has a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from Rutgers (the State University of New Jersey), an M.Sc. from UMass Lowell (Massachusetts), and a B.Sc. from the Department of Polymer Materials Engineering at Shenkar (formerly the Department of Plastics Engineering). He graduated Shenkar with the class of 2000.
His Ph.D. thesis, supervised by Prof. Joachim Cohen, provided new insight on polymer materials suitable for electrode implants in the central nervous system.
Over the years, he has gained expertise in the Israeli and German polymer additives industries and published his findings in world-leading peer-reviewed journals. Professor Lewitus’ scientific contributions include innovative drug printing systems, controlled-release systems for medical marijuana, and natural-molecule-based polymers.
