Illustrator and Cartoonist Itzik Rennert Appointed Deputy Head of the Master’s in Design Program
Shenkar’s Higher Academic Council has appointed Itzik Rennert, one of the topmost artists and creators in Israel - as deputy head of the Master’s in Design Program commencing in the 2016/17 academic year. He will be replacing Prof. Dganit Stern-Schocken who has headed this unique interdisciplinary program since its establishment.
Rennert is a leading illustrator and cartoonist, and his work has been exhibited in numerous exhibitions in Israel and around the world. He is Shenkar’s dean of students and a senior faculty member in the Department of Visual Communication, which he headed from 2007 to 2012. He graduated summa cum laude from the Department of Graphic Design at Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, specialized in illustration at Istituto Europeo di Design in Rome, and received a grant from Cité internationale des Arts in Paris.

Over the years Rennert has served as a designer in many of the leading media platforms, he illustrated and created comic strips and cartoons for Hadashot, Yedioth Ahronoth, Haaretz, HaIr, Globes, and others. He was a member of the comics group “Actus”, and served as an art director at leading advertising agencies in Israel, illustrated well-regarded children’s books, including The Man with the Story in his Head by Yossi Banai, and Allergy by Yehonatan Geffen.
Before joining Shenkar, Rennert headed the Illustration Program in the Department of Visual Communication at Bezalel, and the Department of Illustration at Ascola School of the Arts.
