The ACT Shenkar Center of Innovation & Entrepreneurship, directed by Daniel Altman, working in collaboration with Dr. Milly Perry, Blockchain Center of Excellence Chair at the Israeli Chamber of Information Technology’s Blockchain Center of Excellence, successfully established Israel’s first NFT Conference. The conference aimed to introduce the public to the many applications of NFT technology and its uses in different industries, and to promote innovation in the creative economy and content industry.

The conference was held at Shenkar on Wednesday July 7th and was attended by dozens of guests from the industry, artists, researchers, and economists, as well as being streamed live to around 700 viewers on Shenkar’s Facebook page.

The conference addressed the technological, artistic, business, and social aspects of NFTs. Among the conference’s speakers: Professor Sheizaf Rafaeli, Shenkar’s president; Dr. Milly Perry, chair of the Blockchain Center of Excellence, who led this year conference; Eli Frank, president of the Israeli Chamber of Information Technology; Nimrod Astarhan, artist, technologist, and lecturer at Shenkar’s School of Multidisciplinary Art; Dr. Vered Pnueli, head of the master’s degree in digital game design and development at Shenkar; Nava Swersky Sofer, lecturer and head of music, technology, and innovation at the Rimon School of Music; Rob Anders, CEO of Niio; Efrat Kaufmann of Tezos Israel; and Roey Tzezana of Tel Aviv University. The speakers talked about use cases, challenges, opportunities, initial insights, and future trends in the field.

NFT is a digital unit of value authenticated with blockchain technology, which gives buyers authorization and proof of ownership for digital files containing text, paintings, drawings, audio, video, or digital real estate.

The NFT market is naturally suited for documenting digital assets, but it also facilitates proof of ownership for objects in the physical world (elite fashion, luxury goods, and even cars) by creating documentation in the digital world which is defined as a “digital twin”.
