Textile Testing Laboratories
The success of the local and international textile and fashion market is measured by the quality of the products and the originality of their design, and as such, manufacturers and exporters are required to comply with international standards.
Shenkar's Textile Testing Laboratories were founded in the 1970's, with the purpose of providing the industry with professional, reliable and independent testing and consultation services. In 1994, the international chain store, Marks & Spencer accredited Shenkar laboratories to perform testing in accordance with their rigorous standards, authorizing them to approve other laboratories in the various factories that manufacture Marks & Spencer products – in and around Israel. Thus, the laboratories joined an extremely limited number of test centers worldwide, permitted to grant this stamp of approval.
The laboratories are equipped with advanced facilities and devices, which allow testing in accordance with various international standards, including: B.S, EN, ISO, AATCC and ASTM-D. All testing is performed quickly and efficiently, while maintaining strict confidentiality.
The laboratories offer diverse professional services:
- Testing the physical and chemical characteristics of threads and fabrics, including thread count and twist, thread and fabric strength, resistance to pilling, erosion, thread composition quality and quantity, textile stability, color fastness to washing, rubbing, sweat, light, sea and pool water, and more.
- Testing product durability for any given specifications, and providing an opinion regarding the suitability of the product’s quality, according to the requirements of the ordering party. This service caters to factories that export abroad, and are required to test their products, meeting the needs of overseas customers. Similarly, suitable for importers interested in testing products against a local requirement/specification.
- Finding the cause of defects and providing consultation on the solution to the problem, for example: chemical damage caused to the fabric, formation of lines in the knit fabric, etc.
- Writing product specifications for fabrics or processes.
- Technological consultancy services on production processes.
