The Lion Brand Wearable Art Course 2015
The artistic hand knitting course led by the textile artist and architect Yael Klein Golan and the knitting instructor Bella Zivin.
In the course third year students of the Textile Design Department are introduced to a variety of hand knitting techniques and are encouraged to develop their own experimental and expressive vision of garments or wearable sculptural objects. Each participant had to put together her or his visual and conceptual story and work freely towards its realization in hand knitting.
For several years the project enjoys the generous support of the Lion Brand, a leading American producer of hand-knitting yarns.
The works are being executed with a variety of beautiful Lion Brand yarns. The support for the project also extends to yearly sponsored work-placements for the graduates of the course in the Lion Brand headquarters in New York and support grants for students.
